Sisters in Islam (SIS) is inviting application for the following position. If you are passionate about advancing the rights of women in the country and believe in gender equality and human rights, please submit your application by June 15, 2008.
1) PROGRAMME OFFICER (Research & Publications)
The Programme Officer will assist the research and publications projects and activities undertaken by SIS. The responsibilities include:
a.. To assist SIS and the research teams in carrying out their research projects and related activities including meetings, trainings and workshops
b.. To assist in the production of SIS publications (books, booklets, bulletin, annual report and others) and their effective distribution, sales and promotion
c.. To coordinate inventory work of SIS publications
Requirements:
a.. Minimum two years experience in research and or publications. Those without degrees but with significant experience in both or either areas are encouraged to apply
b.. Fluency in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia
c.. Commitment to human rights and gender equality

2) LEGAL SERVICES OFFICER
The Legal Services Officer will ensure the smooth running of the SIS Legal
Clinic and assist the Advocacy, Legal Services and Reform Unit Senior
Manager in the advocacy and policy reform work of SIS. This includes:
· Providing legal advisory services to SIS clients
· Supervising the chambering students of the SIS Legal Clinic
· Assisting in law and policy reform work as necessary
Requirements:
· Law degree, minimum 2 years experience
· Those without law degrees, but with significant experience in Syariah
law are encouraged to apply.
· Commitment to human rights and gender equality
· Knowledge of Islamic Family Law, experience in court and counseling
skills added advantage
